Governor Markell Endorses Andy Staton for State Senate
Rehoboth Beach, DE – Today, in Rehoboth Beach, Governor Jack Markell stood with candidate Andy Staton to endorse him for the State Senate seat in the newly created 6th District, which includes the communities of Rehoboth Beach, Dewey Beach, Lewes and Milton. Governor Markell applauded Andy for being a community advocate along with being an experienced business leader.
“Andy Staton brings the kind of leadership we need to the State Senate,” said Governor Markell. “I appointed Andy to serve on the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council because Andy’s business experience is just what we need to grow Delaware’s economy. I have been looking for real leaders to join me in fighting for Delaware’s future, and Andy has what it takes. We need Andy Staton in the State Senate.”
Andy Staton lives in Rehoboth Beach, where he runs his own residential real estate business. A long time community resident, Andy was appointed by Governor Markell to the Delaware Economic and Financial Advisory Council (DEFAC), which focuses specifically on state budget issues, and guides the Governor in his own budget process. He serves as the chairman of the Real Estate Commission, and was the Delaware 2010-2011 Realtor of the Year. Staton also sits on the Board of Governors of the Sussex Family YMCA, the CAMP Rehoboth Leadership Council, and the Beebe Hospital Advisory Board.
